The Montenegrin Citizenship is set to be one of the leading citizenships by investment programmes of 2019.
The future of the Montenegro Citizenship
The Secretary of the Developments Project Mr Medojevic announced they are looking ahead to 2020 for the new citizenship by investment programme in Montenegro to be in full swing.
Medojevic highlighted that this Citizenship Investment programme will be transparent and responsible, there will be a maximum cap of 2000 investors authorized per year. In comparison to predecessors in the RCBI industry, Montenegro opened up a very transparent tender for agents and set a high benchmark for those immigration firms it then approved.
As the European Parliament continues to add pressure to the RCBI industry, and with Montenegro set to be joining the EU, they are adamant about presenting their Citizenship Programme as transparent, robust and stringent.

Reputable and robust due diligence
The key motivation behind the Montenegrin Citizenship by Investment programme is the development of the nation by attracting clearly traceable sources of funds from approved and vetted foreign investors. Montenegro has pinpointed three key areas that require investment. These are tourism, agriculture and manufacturing, of these the key sector which is raising interest is tourism.
The Montenegro government is adamant about ensuring that due diligence procedures are carefully implemented and monitored by approved Due Diligence firms, the agents will undertake robust due diligence and the source of funds trace-ability will be thoroughly examined. The Ministry of Interior and relevant government bodies including the National Security Agency will then also undertake all pertinent checks and cross-checks with international security bodies, in line with the Montenegrin Citizenship legislation.
