Dominica has a biometric passport in place now which will benefit also their citizenship by investment applicants. This is a welcome initiative as it will mitigate the risks of passports being falsified and further protects Dominica’s borders. The Dominica citizenship by investment programme is one of the most popular – current investor migrants now have the option to renew their passport for a biometric one if they chose to.
Dominica’s Citizenship by Investment program
Dominica has one of the world’s most successful citizenship by investment programmes and grants foreign investors the right to travel visa free, as well as live and work in a Caribbean paradise. As of this week, citizenship applicants will be receiving a biometric Dominica passport.
Those who already have a passport can renew their existing passport now or at the expiry of their current passports. To apply, passport holders can complete forms on the Dominica government portal: https://dominica.gov.dm/forms and securely pay the processing fee online (US$ 150 for adults or US$ 75 for children).
Biometric passports use non-traceable chips and protection mechanisms to mitigate the risk of them being traced or attacked or falsified. The microchip included stores fingerprints, iris and facial information which is used to identify the passport holder at E-Passport gates. These have been implemented in Dominica in line with E-Passport gates in place at airports globally to protect and control borders.
